Orchardleigh Estate Wedding | Victoria + Scott

Orchardleigh Estate Wedding | Victoria + Scott

Here’s a sneak peek from Victoria and Scott’s wedding at Orchardleigh Estate in Froome.

Apologies for the lack of weddings lately, between Christmas shoots and weddings over the festive period I’ve not had time to post! I digress.

Victoria and Scott

I asked the happy couple when we sat down for their final meeting a few questions about their relationship. Enjoy the little insight into their relationship and to hear the lovely way in how Scott proposed.

How Long Have You Been Together?: 8 years

Where Did You First Meet?: At a motorbike shop, I walked in and Scott served my dad!

Where Did You Get Engaged?: In London at our favourite hotel, The Royal Horseguards in August 2017. We were staying for Chuchy’s birthday (that’s my nick name for Scott) and when we got to the hotel room there was champagne and a sign saying will you marry me written in chocolate and strawberries and I said “oh no they have got the wrong room the sign was meant to say happy birthday” as I told the hotel it was his birthday and I thought it was a mix up… but really Chuchy surprised me and that was my proposal. (He also bought me my dream ring from Cartier… I saw it in the window in Bond Street and I thought wow that’s amazing – never thinking I would ever own something from that shop, and then afterwards he went and bought it for me so that was such a beautiful gesture!)

Why Did You Choose Your Wedding Venue?: We fell in love with Orchardleigh and it ticked all the boxes for us! We wanted a venue where everyone can stay and we can party for 24 hours – and that is what we have got for our wedding! It is going to be a massive house party with everyone we love all staying in one place!!

Getting Ready

I did the usual thing of searching for Orchardleigh Estate as soon as the enquiry came in. I wanted to have a nose at what it looked like and what other photos taken there. Seeing images online really didn’t prepare me for how stunning this venue is. With the impressive front, entrance, and almost decadent interior, the house did not disappoint. The rear of the estate has some incredible views across he Somerset county, which you can see below.

The two adjacent rooms were almost as impressive as the views where Victoria and her bridesmaids got ready.

The Ceremony

Whilst the house was a large and impressive the church was the complete oppposite. A tiny, dimly lit and very understated church indeed. Whilst the entire church was pretty dark, the front where the happy couple were saying their vows was bathed in gorgeous autumn sun. Luckily the light was coming through a small window to their side. Definitely made my life easier but also made for some amazing photos.

That Light!

This is where I let the photos do the talking for me. Despite it being super cold the light was incredible which we took full advantage of!

The Reception

Orchardleigh Estate really does work well with a autumn or winter wedding. The grand feel looks great with the autumn colours and features of their wedding. A simple setup with candles and the autumn bouquets looked perfect.

The Evening

As the sun went down the party started, the two smaller rooms made for some awesome dance floor shots. And talking of shots, Victoria and Scott both appear in my best 2018 Wedding Present Shots earlier this month in the blog. Their first dance was the awesome Seth McFarlane – I’ve Got You Under My Skin, such a different version to go with. I love it with couples do their own thing. With the two of them wanting a break from the dance floor we popped outside to grab some night photos under the stars at Orchardleigh Estate along with some dramatic photos in the games room.

COMMENTS

hi philip, these photos are stunning! how did you get the last shot? I love the exposure and the stars look so clear! I will be shooting a wedding here next year:)

Hi Christina, thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it. It was an off camera flash with a long as possible exposure, I found it difficult due to the building being so bright. I used a magmod magsphere on a godox flash to light them. Have. great wedding, you’ll love the venue!
