De Courceys Manor Wedding | Charlotte + Matthew

Welcome to my teaser photos from Matthew and Charlotte’s wedding at De Courceys Manor – Cardiff – my penultimate wedding of 2018!

It’s been nearly 5 years since my last visit and I currently don’t have any other bookings to return, which is a real shame as it’s a fantastic venue, and the staff are amazing!

Charlotte and Matthew

Just a quick bit of information about their relationship before I get into their wedding day.

How Long Have You Been Together?: Nearly 9 years

Where Did You First Meet?: In Treorchy

Where Did You Get Engaged?: I proposed for Charlotte’s Christmas Eve Present

Why Did You Choose Your Wedding Venue?: We liked the relaxed atmosphere. The beautiful grounds and indoor areas and it has a very good reputation for good food and good service.

Getting Ready

Charlotte and her bridesmaids decided to use one of the larger side rooms in De Courcey’s Manor to get ready in. This would allow them to have more room for them all to get ready together instead of being spread out across rooms. On a plus side the light coming through the skylight was amazing to photograph in, despite the poor weather.

The Wedding Ceremony at De Courceys Manor Wedding

With around 60 guests the ceremony room at De Courceys Manor is perfect for this size of wedding. The room is a lovely light and airy room with neutral colours, which Charlotte added to with her winter colours.

The Portraits

With the usual winter weather causing issues all day, we only had a few minutes to grab some photos outside. I always like to look for something different to go along with the obvious photos. When I saw the new walkway between De Courceys and the lodges I knew this would be perfect for the type of look that went well with their wedding theme.

The Evening

With a lot of wedding I often do a second session with the bride and groom. This is for a number of reasons. One, to give them a second look at the photos, something different, be it locations or day vs. night. Two, so they don’t feel like the day is all about taking photos. With the rain disappearing in the evening I set up some lights outside to accentuate the colours which De Courceys shine on their building. The aim was to create a silhouette of the happy couple using these colours. I think it turned out pretty cool. And we had to end it with some sparkler photos outside the entrance of De Courceys.
