Cardiff Bay Wedding | Aimee + Mike
I joined Aimee and Mike at The Exchange Hotel for their Cardiff Bay Wedding. The Exchange Hotel has bucket loads of character and old features, which is perfect for a winter wedding. (Just don’t call it a Christmas wedding, as Aimee told me!)
Hope you like the handful of photos from their wedding.
Aimee and Mike
I caught up with Aimee and Mike Before their wedding to ask them a few questions about their relationship. Here’s what they had to say:
How Long Have You Been Together?: 3 years
Where Did You First Meet?: We met on tinder… started speaking, finally met up and that was it!
Where Did You Get Engaged?: It happened in Auckland New Zealand. We were at the top of the sky tower watching the sunset when Mike pulled me to one side and popped the question. He had confidently booked us to get tattoos the following day to mark the special occasion.
Why Did You Choose Your Wedding Venue?: We looked a few places but wanted to be in Cardiff ideally. When we walked in we loved it. It was perfect for feel we wanted from the day. It was regal but warm and inviting. The grand hall was just spectacular but it was the little details like the clocks, the trunks and the details in the reception that we adored. We went for a quick coffee after seeing it and went back and paid the deposit within the hour.
The Bit Before
One of the things I love about The Exchange Hotel in Cardiff is that it is it’s grand feel, which is perfect for a winter wedding.
The Vows
With a ceremony room as large as the one in The Exchange, you can pretty much do whatever you like there. I absolutely love the trees supplied by Best Buds by Samara. Perfect to help fill up the space if you have a smaller ceremony.
The Moments
Often in winter weddings you don’t get much sunlight, and it’s even harder if the ceremony time is later. This doesn’t really matter at The Exchange. Whilst you can venture into Cardiff Bay for photos, the whole venue is packed full of areas which are full of character.
The Reception
The Evening
Jammed packed dancelfoor! When your bride and groom know a lot of people and can invite them all due to the size of the venue you know the dance floor is going to be a busy place! Which you can see from the first dance photo!
