Cripps Barn Wedding | Hannah + Neil

Cripps Barn Wedding | Hannah + Neil

I’m absolutely loving the winter weddings at the moment. This wedding was no different when I travelled to the stunning Cotswolds to be part of Hannah and Neil’s wedding at the wonderful Cripps Barn. I’ve known Neil for years, so it was amazing to be part of his and Hannah’s big day, even if Freya his daughter did steal the show!

Hannah and Neil

Before the wedding, Hannah and Neil filled out a quick questionnaire about their relationship and their wedding.

How Long Have You Been Together?: 6 years

Where Did You First Meet?: On Facebook! Like most people at the moment, I guess.

Where Did You Get Engaged?: Venice, Italy on 9 Dec 2016 on a Gondola. Nearly two years before our wedding!

Why Did You Choose Your Wedding Venue?: It’s location, remoteness and the fact it has that old barn charm. And the Cotswolds is such a lovely part of the world. Perfect.

Getting Ready At The Swan Inn, Bilbury

The Cotswolds is a beautiful part of the world. It’s been many years since I’ve visited the area and I’ve never photographed a wedding there either so it was great to combine the two (even if the hotel I stayed in didn’t quite match the gorgeous surroundings!).

Hannah and her bridesmaids got ready at the Swan Inn in Bilbury, five minutes or so from Cripps Barn.

The I Do’s

Knowing Neil as well as I do, I knew the ceremony would be a lot of fun. From the moment they walked in, to the moment they exited to be showered confetti, there were huge smiles. The ceremony room at Cripps Barn is a fantastic space. With high beamed ceilings and low hanging (almost medieval) chandeliers covered in green foliage, it had a rustic feel that matched the surrounding areas.

The Quiet Time

With the ceremony time set at 1 pm, we had plenty of time to grab some lovely photos of the happy couple. Cripps Barn is in the middle of fields which meant the place to take pictures were almost limitless. Not wanting to drag the couple away for too long, we took time for two sets of photos. Ones in the immediate grounds of Cripps Barn, and ones at sunset in the fields close by. This gave the couple plenty of time to mingle, try some canapés and enjoy the lovely winter weather.

The Reception

The reception area where the wedding breakfast was held is adjacent to the ceremony room. This room is a newer extension to the old barn but still in keeping with the look and feel. This room is also home to the only bar at Cripps Barn. This meant it was a little bit of a challenge to get some photos of the entire room! A little bribery and help from the incredible staff went a long way. Their room setup continued with the rustic feel along with adding some Christmas touches with the favours and place names. It didn’t take long for the guests to be seated as most had already found their places. I have to give a special mention to the cake, and the cake maker. What an incredible piece of art! They had travelled down from North Wales with the cake, and what a cake it was!

The Party

One of the guests took control of the DJ’ing for the evening and as soon as the first dance finished the party kicked off with a bang. The dancefloor was packed from start to finish, which is why I managed to grab the happy couple for a break to get some night photos outside the gorgeous barn.
